Submitting a takedown notice

Send a written notice to the agent above with “DMCA Notice” in the subject line. To be effective it must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  3. The URL or a description precise enough for us to locate the allegedly infringing material
  4. Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf

Misrepresenting that material is infringing may make you liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

What happens next

We aim to acknowledge complete notices within five business days. Where a notice appears valid we will remove or disable access to the material and, if a reader posted it, notify them and pass along your notice.

Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the agent above including your signature, identification of the removed material and its former location, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed in error, your name, address, and phone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or the Southern District of Texas if you are outside the United States). We may restore the material in 10–14 business days unless the complaining party files a court action.

Repeat infringers

We terminate the accounts of readers who repeatedly infringe the copyright of others.
